For its current issue, fashion and cultural monthly Dazed & Confused dedicates its pages to the struggle for freedom around the world. Chinese artist and social critic Ai Weiwei is on the cover, after being beaten by Chinese police, showing the scars on his head. With his design for the Beijing 'Bird's Nest' National Stadium, Ai is one of China's best-known contemporary artists. Dazed also travels to the city Mae Sot on the Burmese border of western Thailand to meet the underground resistance movements operating in and out of Burma and the magazine also profiles some of the young activists fighting for freedom across the Middle East, including in Bahrain, Israel/Palestine, Egypt and Iran. |
