The Queen’s visit to Ireland, a century on from the last British reigning monarch’s trip, is an event not lacking in historical significance. In the light of this, the June issue of BBC History Magazine reviews some of the crucial moments in Ireland’s story, from the arrival of the gospel to the Good Friday Agreement. Also in this month’s issue there are three features examining the end of the First World War, which consider why the conflict came to be concluded in armistice rather than an Allied march on Berlin. |
