Articles published in British newspapers recently revealed that Austrian, Slovenian, Romanian and Spanish European Parliament deputies accepted money from fake lobbyists to have some EU legislation changed. The Spanish deputy himself responded in the Spanish daily El Pais that he was the victim of a "trap" in which journalists requested two amendments to draft legislation on consumer protection, while the Austrian deputy threw in the towel after Austria’s Kurier claimed she planned to pay back business money using parliamentary expenses. The discovered corruption cases are being investigated, further proceedings can be expected. |
