Hungary's Ailing Economy in Current Issue of The Economist print
June 8, 2012

The article titled "Sickness on the Danube" in the current issue of The Economist writes about Hungary's ailing economy and the first two years' performance of prime minister Orbán Viktor's government. With unemployment rate close to 12% and inflation around 6%, the article mentions Hungary as the "weakest link" in the region. The writer also enumerates some of the most controversial current events including the postponed IMF-talks, rising xenophobia and hate speech, celebration of Miklós Horthy and the soured relations with neighbouring Romania after the "farcical attempt to rebury writer József Nyirő in his home town" (in Transylvania).
